Diwali, a festival of light is one of the biggest festival of the year in India. Diwali symbolizes "the spiritual victory of light over darkness and good over evil".
The festival is widely associated with Lakshmi , goddess of prosperity and wealth , with many other regional traditions connecting the holiday to Sita and Rama , Vishnu , Krishna , Yama , Yami , Durga , Kali , Dhanvantari or Vishvakarman.
It is mainly celebrated in order of Lord Rama return to his kingdom in Ayodhya , after staying in exile for 14 years. He is also considered as Lord Vishnu's reincarnation.
On Diwali , clay diyas are often used temporarily as lighting for special occasions. Diya is essential in Hinduism because it signifies purity , goodness , good luck and power. The presence of light means absence of darkness and evil forces.

Diwali starts with Dhanteras that falls two day before Diwali followed by Narak Chaturdashi , choti Diwali , Lakshmi Pooja / badi Diwali , Padwa , bhai dooj as the last day of the 5 day Diwali festival.
